In June of 2016, the federal government passed Bill-C14 which removed the criminal code prohibition against medically assisted suicide.​

Nisbet Lodge along with many other faith based health care providers has spent considerable thought, time and prayer in developing a policy regarding MAID. As a Christian organization we believe in the sanctity of life and as a result, we are compelled not to participate in medically assisted death within the confines of Nisbet Lodge. We are committed providing quality palliative care that promotes compassionate support to residents and families.​
