Caring Christian Homes

High-quality professional and
compassionate care for every resident

COVID Update

Oct 8th, 2020

On behalf of Nisbet Lodge, we want to wish you a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.  Our residents will be treated to a Turkey lunch on Monday.

Life is gradually returning to a new normal in the home.  Services like foot care, hair salon, and dentistry have started back up albeit with certain modifications.  The Activation staff has started small group programs by the team and the Chaplain ran a Bible study and communion service this week.  Residents are really enjoying mixing again.

The plan for dinning in the main 12th-floor dining room continues.  Residents will go up two days a week for all meals by the team.  There will be two to a table from the same floor complete with a sneeze guard.  The last piece of this puzzle is revising the elevator schedule to accommodate the plan.  The Resident’s Council approved the plan and members are looking forward to going up.  We expect this to start within the next two weeks.

Thanks to the Nisbet Lodge-McClintock Manor Foundation the new common area furniture has arrived.  Comfortable new chairs are now in place in the 2nd-floor Activity Room and the resident lounge furniture will go up next week.

With the Second Wave now here in Toronto the Ministry has revised their directives around visiting.  Inside visits are no longer permitted and resident outings will apply to medical appointments.  All of this said visitors can come in when a resident is palliative and the Ministry has created a new category of visitor called “essential caregiver”.  We are clarifying the definition and the criteria around these visits and will send this out next week.  It is clear though those essential caregivers will require a negative test result within the last 14 days.   We know these constant changes are frustrating for residents and families but they are aimed at keeping everyone safe.

With the dramatic increase in positive cases in Toronto, we encourage you to follow the directives from Public Health around wearing a mask, hand washing and use of sanitizer as well as limiting interactions with others, especially large groups.

Finally, we ask for your prayers for protection from the Second Wave for all those connected to the Lodge and Manor.  Keep well.

Caring Christian Homes in the heart of the Danforth

As a Christian organization serving in the heart of the Danforth, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of those whose home is our seniors housing and long-term care residences.

Genuinely Home

Everyone here is devoted to ensuring high-quality professional and compassionate care for every resident of Nisbet Lodge. We also work so that tenants of McClintock Manor enjoy life to the fullest.

To accomplish that, I am privileged to lead a committed and skilled staff. We are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers and Board members, and a very significant roster of community partners.

About Us

Nisbet Lodge is a charitable, not-for-profit organization, a home that cares for just over 100 seniors. We offer residents accommodation and care that fulfills the needs of today’s seniors, in a Christian environment.

McClintock Manor is an apartment building for seniors who can live on their own. We provide 62 apartments where seniors can live independently in a “good-neighbour community.

How you can help

The Nisbet Lodge McClintock Manor Foundation exists to support the present and future work of both the Lodge and the Manor. Started in 1993, the Foundation raises funds for capital projects that benefit both the Lodge and Manor.

Your gifts are crucial, as we always must find additional funds to cover many important needs of our residents and tenants. We value every gift and every donor either it is a donation or volunteering.
