Happy Canada Day! It spite of COVID Canada is still a great country to live in.
We continue to work with Michael Garrron Hospital (MGH) to bring the hospital to the home during this outbreak. This includes things like IV therapy, a palliative care nurse from the Toronto Central LHIN, infection control educators and even fifty meals for staff compliments of MGH and the Golden Age Village for the Elderly.
In terms of staffing we have almost doubled the nursing compliment so that residents are getting good care. We have also added Environmental Services staff to clean and disinfect the building to help prevent further spread.
Thanks to the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team there are two additional Chaplains supporting residents and staff. Our physiotherapist and the physio assistant are back and providing residents physio in their rooms.
Families are encouraged to visit if a resident is declining and Facetime visits are also available. Our families/Power of Attorneys received a call last weekend as part of our effort to keep people better informed. In between calls you can contact the Charge Nurse for the Team.
The good news is that five of our staff who were off are back. Toronto Public Health has made it very clear that if a person has been off for 14 days and is not symptomatic it is safe to do so.
Number of positive staff: 26
Number returned to work: 5
While our resident numbers have gone up we believe we are on the right track with extra staffing and infection control:
Team 1: 15 positive and 3 deaths
Team 2: 5 positive
Team 3: 9 positive and 2 deaths
We are further saddened by these losses and express our sympathy to those family members. The residents are being retested as we speak and we hope to have the results in 48 hours.
In closing, please continue to hold Nisbet Lodge in your prayers.

Everyone here is devoted to ensuring high-quality professional and compassionate care for every resident of Nisbet Lodge. We also work so that tenants of McClintock Manor enjoy life to the fullest.
To accomplish that, I am privileged to lead a committed and skilled staff. We are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers and Board members, and a very significant roster of community partners.
Nisbet Lodge is a charitable, not-for-profit organization, a home that cares for just over 100 seniors. We offer residents accommodation and care that fulfills the needs of today’s seniors, in a Christian environment.
McClintock Manor is an apartment building for seniors who can live on their own. We provide 62 apartments where seniors can live independently in a “good-neighbour community.
The Nisbet Lodge McClintock Manor Foundation exists to support the present and future work of both the Lodge and the Manor. Started in 1993, the Foundation raises funds for capital projects that benefit both the Lodge and Manor.
Your gifts are crucial, as we always must find additional funds to cover many important needs of our residents and tenants. We value every gift and every donor either it is a donation or volunteering.
